According to the research, immune signaling proteins known as CXCL10 and interferon-gamma (IFN-γ) may play an important role in triggering inflammatory responses in certain individuals. These proteins are part of the body’s normal immune defense system, but under specific conditions they may contribute to excessive inflammation.
Using laboratory experiments and animal models, researchers observed that some immune cells exposed to components related to mRNA vaccines produced elevated levels of these signaling molecules. The resulting immune response was associated with inflammation that, in some cases, could affect heart tissue and potentially contribute to the development of myocarditis.
The findings offer scientists valuable insight into a possible explanation for these rare events, but the researchers emphasize that additional studies are needed to confirm the exact mechanism and determine why only a very small percentage of vaccinated individuals experience this complication.
